An innovative, mobile, and committed surf school

A surf school like no other

Born from the passion of three friends from the Basque Coast. After an inspiring journey through Australia, Indonesia, California, and Central America, we are now launching a project that combines surfing, sharing, and events.

Our ambition

To offer a different kind of surf school

Eco-friendly

Durable equipment, respectful practices, and an approach focused on protecting the ocean.

Rooted in local culture

Created by children of the Basque Country, our school brings local culture to life through surfing, music, and connections.

mobile

We go where the waves are best to offer smooth surfing tailored to each session.

Driven by high-level experience

Former competitors, we share our expertise with rigor and kindness.

The legacy of
Straight In

The Straight Up surf school continues the legacy of Straight In, our cultural association founded six years ago in the Basque Country. Through it, we have created and organized many events.
Straight Up is also an opportunity to leverage this expertise to develop a new form of events centered around surfing and local culture.

Straight In's little story

Straight In is, above all, a story of friendship.
A group of friends who grew up on the Basque coast, shaped by the rhythm of the ocean and surfing.
From a very young age, our connection with the water, the waves, and outdoor life has shaped our identity. Over the years, we shared competitions, travels, common passions, and interests.
But this story didn’t stop in Biarritz. Like many, we had to move to Bordeaux for our studies. There, we discovered a new world: urban life, student life, music, vinyl records…
The idea of Straight In took root in 2019, driven by the desire to bring to Biarritz what we saw developing in Bordeaux and Paris: music collectives embodying a free and committed vision of youth and music.
For six years, we organized nearly fifty events per year, ranging from simple DJ sets to full productions. This experience allowed us to train in all aspects of event management: communication, artistic direction, production, marketing…

The birth of
Straight Up

After our studies, we set out to discover the world: Australia, Indonesia, California, Central America.
This journey inspired a strong idea: to evolve Straight In into a new project focused on surfing.

This is how Straight Up was born, a traveling surf school that reflects our vision:
– Accessible
– Authentic
– In harmony with the environment

This new direction is not a break, but a natural evolution.
While music and sharing remain at the heart of Straight In, Straight Up enriches our daily lives by keeping the collective spirit alive, while focusing on the world of surfing.

Our vision of surfing

Straight Up is the natural continuation of our collective journey — the result of many years of friendship, sharing, and above all, passion.
Surfing has always united us. It’s what brought us together, and it’s around surfing that we’ve chosen to build our profession.
Our ambition is simple: to offer a human-centered school with impeccable quality.

This translates into:

  • High-end, eco-friendly equipment
  • Careful selection of spots based on conditions
  • Strong partnerships with reputable establishments on the Basque coast

At Straight Up, age or skill level doesn’t matter: everyone is welcome.
We adapt to each student to provide tailored support, with personalized advice to help them progress effectively.
Every day, we learn and improve to offer an experience that is as smooth to organize as it is enjoyable to live.

The founders

Paul

Co-founder

I’m 27 years old, originally from Biarritz, and passionate about surfing since childhood. At 12, I joined the Volcom team, which allowed me to travel, discover the competitive world, and live unforgettable experiences.
Thanks to the sports section and the Surf Training Center, I balanced studies and training until high school graduation, before enrolling at Sciences Po Bordeaux, where I earned two master’s degrees: one in cultural projects and another in international relations.
At the same time, I founded Straight In, an association that has been organizing events blending surfing and music for six years. Today, with my two best friends, we are launching our school to share our passion and support each student with respect for the ocean.

Titouan

Co-founder & instructor

Born in Bayonne, I grew up in Martinique, in a small fishing village, with my feet in the water and my head in the waves. I discovered surfing at age 8, then joined competitions and the Pôle France in Biarritz at 15.
Between training and traveling around the world, I developed a deep passion for the ocean. After earning a master’s degree in psychology in Bordeaux, I completed a civic service at the Pôle Espoir in Martinique, where I supported young surfers by combining mental and technical preparation.
A coastal lifeguard in summer and explorer in winter, I have been teaching surfing for three years now, holding a BPJEPS certification.

Camille

Co-founder

I discovered surfing in Congo, within a small surfing community that marked my childhood. At 12, my family moved to the Basque Country, which quickly became my home base. There, I joined the sports section, then the Aquitaine Surf Training Center in high school, and competed throughout my schooling.
After graduation, I headed to Bordeaux to study architecture — a fascinating but demanding field that kept me away from the waves but never extinguished my passion.
At the end of my studies, I traveled with Paul and Titouan on a long journey through America and Central America. This trip bonded our trio and sparked the desire for a shared project.
