2025 marked a turning point for us. With the creation of Straight Up, our surf school in Biarritz, we brought a new dimension to an adventure that started much earlier. After several years of developing our events project, Straight In, it felt only natural to return to what has brought us together from the very beginning: surfing.

The ocean has always been part of our daily lives. It has shaped our encounters, our choices, and our worldview. It is what united us, and it continues to guide us today. Moving back to live and work on the Basque Coast after our studies wasn’t a coincidence, but a deliberate choice: to build a sincere, locally-rooted project and stay as close as possible to what truly moves us.

Launching a surf school in the Basque Country became the obvious next step. Not just another school, but a place for passing on knowledge, sharing experiences, and finding joy. We wanted to offer surf lessons in Biarritz that actually meant something—where every student finds their place, progresses at their own pace, and enjoys a genuine experience in the water.

From the start, we chose to prioritize quality over quantity. Small groups, a personalized approach, and attention to every detail. Whether in group lessons (limited to six students) or private sessions, our goal remained the same: to provide the best possible guidance to everyone, regardless of their level, as they discover or refine their surfing.

Throughout the season, we shared much more than just sessions. Every lesson was a moment of connection, trust, and fun. Teaching on the beaches of Biarritz and the Basque Coast, witnessing those first waves caught, seeing progress take shape and smiles appear… that is what made this first year so rewarding.

Even though Straight Up Surf School is a young surf school in Biarritz, our history with this environment goes way back. We grew up here, immersed in this surf culture, with a deep respect for the ocean and for others. It was essential for us to honor that continuity with humility and commitment.

This first season confirmed what we already felt: sharing the sport of surfing is second nature to us. The project found its place naturally, fueled by the energy of the people we met and the trust of our students.

We want to thank everyone who took part in this adventure. Our loved ones, our partners, and of course, every person who came to surf with us this summer. Your trust gives meaning to everything we build.

The next chapter is already unfolding, right here in Biarritz, driven by the same desire: to keep the spirit of surfing alive, simply and sincerely.
